Legal Research
When disputes are unavoidable, we leverage our legal research skills and strategies to assist our clients. Our attorney clients are often surprised by our expertise in legal research, and we pride ourselves on being masters in this field, particularly in matters concerning California Labor and Employment Law. Few noteworthy research projects include, successful recovery of attorney fees and costs despite no award being granted to the Plaintiff involving a FEHA disability discrimination, mixed motive case. In another instance, the Second District Court of Appeal affirmed the denial of a motion to compel arbitration involving a Fortune 500 telecommunications company. The decision was significant because during our research we had uncovered six other district courts upholding the same agreement as valid in other states.
The types of actions we assist on include but are not limited to the following:
-
employment discrimination on the basis of age, gender, disability, sex, race, religion, and national origin among other protected classes;
-
misclassification of employees;
-
wage and hourly matters including but not limited to unpaid wages, minimum wages, overtime, working conditions, improper deductions, indemnification, tip sharing, waiting time penalties, meal and rest breaks;
-
enforcement of restrictive covenants;
-
employment contracts;
-
wrongful/constructive discharge;
-
harassment at the workplace;
-
whistleblower protections;
-
enforcement of trade secrets, inter alia.

Drafting of Pleadings and Motions
Pleadings
Although it is well settled and long standing principle that “The plaintiffs need only plead facts showing that they may be entitled to some relief.” (Fisher v. San Pedro Peninsula Hosp. (1989) 214 Cal.App.3d 590, 604) Assisting attorneys over the past few years, our team has observed that the courts have adopted a stricter approach towards plaintiff pleadings, requiring detailed facts and specific violations pled. With this in mind, we are diligent from the outset of drafting a complaint. We thoroughly review case files to ensure no relevant fact or potential cause of action is omitted. We make sure to allege attorney fees and relevant damages where necessary, striving to make our complaints as resistant to demurrers as possible.

Motions
Whenever necessary, we aggressively assist in drafting and opposing motions. We shine when it comes to working on motion for summary judgment; we are passionate about it and view it as a platform to showcase all our skills. Of course, we assist with every possible motion and pleading required in your litigation battle.
Discovery
We understand that discovery can often be tedious, involving gamesmanship and delay tactics from opposing counsels. Through our diligent work, we ensure that you always maintain the upper hand in your litigation battle.
Here are a few ways we assist:
-
propounding and responding to discovery (form interrogatories, special interrogatories, production of documents, admissions, subpoenas, deposition notices);
-
Meet and confer letters;
-
Identifying, preserving, collecting, reviewing, and analyzing the relevant information and documents (employment agreement, employee handbooks, arbitration agreement, E-discovery etc.);
-
preparation of deposition summaries, inter alia.

Trial
When it comes to trial readiness, we offer extensive support covering a wide range of tasks. This includes expert disclosure demands, subpoenas, motions in limines, proposed jury instructions, proposed verdict forms, 1987 demands, witness and exhibit lists, trial briefs, inter alia. Additionally, we provide assistance with evidence organization, video and deposition designations, video clips, and more. Our objective is to equip attorneys with all the necessary tools to present a compelling case before the jury and the court.
Post Trial
If there's a need to draft or oppose a Motion for New Trial and/or JNOV, or request Attorney Fees and Costs, we act promptly and diligently. Our goal with post-trial motions is to create a strong and comprehensive record to preserve before the Court of Appeal.

Appeal
Challenging a jury verdict or trial court’s decision requires a comprehensive understanding of the appellate process and the grounds for appeal. Drafting persuasive appellate and reply briefs, meticulous preparation of Appendix (if opted to) are crucial to the success of an appeal. A well-written brief should effectively present the legal issues, supported by relevant legal authorities and a thorough analysis of the trial record. At Juriix, we meticulously review the trial record, including jury instructions, motion in liming rulings, verdict forms, trial transcripts, to identify any legal errors or irregularities that may have influenced the case's outcome.

Critical attention is given to the strict deadlines and procedures involved in filing an appeal. Missing a deadline or failing to follow the required procedures can result in the dismissal of the appeal; therefore, we ensure that all deadlines are met and that the appeal is filed in compliance with the applicable rules and regulations.

Training and Workshops
We also provide assistance in conducting training programs and workshops on various workplace issues, including sexual or discriminatory harassment, workplace violence prevention, compliance with employment discrimination laws, proper hiring practices, minimizing liability in discipline and discharge decisions, compliance with health and safety obligations, federal and state wage and hour compliance.
